Microkhan by Brendan I. Koerner

A State That’s Untouchable, Like Eliot Ness

Instead of hitting you with our weekly Bad Movie Friday entry, we’ve decided to round out our cough-syrup trilogy with a classic ad: Oddjob shilling for Vicks Formula 44. Good thing there’s no narcotic in there to slow him down. And the phenylpropanolamine should make him a much more energetic opponent for Mr. Bond.

We’re also ditching the movies this Friday because we’re in a rush—not only on deadline, but also prepping for a weeklong trip out to the Bay Area. Next week we’ll be Microkhan’ing from the Pacific time zone. Set your mental clocks accordingly.

Given that you’re a beer fan, you should check out Russian River’s offerings while you’re out there. Pliny the Elder and Pliny the Younger are their famous IPAs, but I’m a big fan of their sour beers (Sanctification, Beatification, Consecration, etc.).

@minderbender: Oh yeah. Been aching to try the Plinys for eons–always at or near the top of Beer Advocate’s rankings. I’ll need to find a bar close to my temporary Palo Alto HQs that’s rich in Russian River offerings.

Then again, Santa Rosa isn’t that terribly far from the peninsula. And the Russian River brew pub sure looks inviting:
